Innovative Packaging with CNC Laser Cutting
At StoneyCNC we have designed and manufactured numerous custom packaging solutions for our products and this being one of the most innovative ones. We machined Teflon for a customer and had to find the best way to ship the components out in a safe yet creative way. So we turned to Fusion 360 and our in-house CNC laser cutting solution to get the job done.
This project is a mix of technologies … the card was machined with rotary cutting (end mill) hence the absence of any black edges. The logo and details were then etched with the OPT LASER onto the card. The OPT laser allows for very fine detail to be laser-engraved onto the card. The end result was a really nice solution as the Teflon had to remain untouched before getting to the end-user. This demonstrates where laser engraving and rotary CNC cutting both mutually contribute their own advantages to a finished product when under CNC control on a CNC router.
As ever - the capacity to precisely control the machining and laser heads under CNC control allowed this packaging solution to be executed in a very short time frame.
